2:00pm Chrism Mass—Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, Marietta. The three holy oils used in the Church’s sacraments are blessed and the priests of the diocese renew their promises from their ordination.
7:00pm Ecumenical Tenebrae Service – Faith Fellowship Church (3450 Belmont St, Bellaire)
Wednesday, March 27: Wednesday of Holy Week
6:30pm – 7:30pm – Confession (SJ)
Thursday, March 28: Holy Thursday
7:00pm – Mass of the Lord’s Supper – St. John’s Church. The Washing of the Feet after the homily. Reception of the holy oils blessed by Bishop Bradley at the Chrism Mass. The procession of the Eucharist to the Chapel of Repose after communion. Church open for prayer before the Blessed Sacrament until Midnight.
Friday, March 29: Good Friday
9:30am – Cross Walk – begins and ends at Gazebo in the city park in Bellaire. We take turns carrying a wooden cross around the downtown on Bellaire, making fourteen stops.
12:00pm – Shadyside Ecumenical Good Friday Service – The 7 Last Words of Jesus – Shadyside Community Center
3:00pm – Stations of the Cross followed by Divine Mercy Novena – St. John’s Church.
7:00pm – Commemoration of Our Lord’s Passion – St. John’s Church According to the Church’s ancient tradition, Mass is not celebrated today. The celebration of the Lord’s passion consists of three parts: Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion. The collection for the Shrines of the Holy Land is taken up.
Saturday, March 30, Holy Saturday
9:00am – The Office of Readings – St. John’s Church.
10:00am Practice for Easter Vigil – St. John’s Church
3:00pm – Divine Mercy Novena – St. John’s Church.
8:00 p.m. The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – St. John’s. The Blessing of the Fire, Lighting of the Easter candle, the Easter Proclamation, the Readings that describe the history of salvation, and the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation.
Sunday, March 31 – Easter Sunday
9:30 a.m. St. John’s Church
11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Church
Easter Egg Hunt for the children after each mass.
3:00pm – Divine Mercy Novena – St. John’s Church.

We look forward to celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop Bradley on Monday, June 3rd at 6:00pm at St. John’s. Any Catholic, Grade 5 through Adult, who has not yet been confirmed, is invited to join us in preparing for this Sacrament. Please download and return the registration form by Friday, March 8.
